Motorbike theft |
||
Good afternoon,
It is important to note that reports of stolen motorbikes have decreased recently however, it is still a prevalent issue in Kent and we want to remind those with motorbikes that this crime is still occurring. It is important you are all reminded so we can encourage you to continue taking those extra steps to protect your property. Many theft offences are opportunistic, thieves will often spot the weak targets and ignore the hard targets. Increasing the risk of capture and increasing the efforts to complete the crime will often be enough to deter a thief from taking what belongs to you. This includes, but it not limited to, using thick metal chains to lock up your bike, parking it underneath good quality CCTV, installing tamper alarms to your bike and storing it in locked sheds/garages.
Canterbury Police are still handing out free air tags to those who live or work in Canterbury and own a motorbike. Installing tracking air tags on your bike is a strong tactic to aid retrieving stolen bikes. If you would like to claim an air tag please respond to this message. Everyone is urged to contact police if anyone is seen acting suspiciously, if anyone has any questions or queries regarding this issue please let us know.
Kind regards, Canterbury Community Safety Unit Kent Police | ||
